TTS Armament traces back to Levi Thompson’s time as a firearms instructor in the United States Air Force. In the classroom, when students struggled, he would often stop them and ask a simple question: “Think about what you’re doing. Does what you just did make sense to you, or would it make more sense to do it a different way?”

That question reflected something deeper than marksmanship or repetition. It was about helping people understand why they were doing what they were doing, not just going through the motions and repeating the same mistakes without connecting the dots. Over time, that principle became a phrase Levi returned to again and again: be a thinking shooter.

After teaching that mindset to thousands of men and women, Levi realized the same message was needed outside the classroom too. There were countless people trying to better understand their weapons, improve their training, and build real competence, but without the benefit of that kind of instruction. That led to the creation of his YouTube channel, The Thinking Shooter, where he shared training concepts, practical guidance, and the mindset behind becoming more capable and more intentional in the use of one’s weapon.

After several years of building that platform, and after separating from the military, Levi decided it was time to begin seriously pursuing a long-standing goal: entering the firearms manufacturing industry. Rather than jump in blindly, he stepped into manufacturing to learn the trade, build the necessary skills, and begin laying the groundwork for the kind of company he intended to create. During that time, he met Travis Smith. What began as a friendship grew into a partnership rooted in shared values, shared ambition, and a mutual desire to build something meaningful in the firearms industry. Together, Levi and Travis turned that long-held vision into reality and founded TTS Armament.

Today, TTS Armament is built on disciplined standards, useful design, practical problem-solving, and a commitment to making and offering products that solve real problems without compromise.
